Painful Hope

My 'Contained' brooch was first exhibited at Lille, France. It also appeared at Madrid, Spain, following an application to the open call Painful Hope, curated by Juan Riusech: "Let us pause before we reach the point of no return from the human-made horrors of our time. With compassion and imagination, we can contain and repair the worst of the damage." I immediately saw the connection of 'Contained' to Painful Hope: I had kept this particular leftover fragment of wood from a carpenter’s workshop to remind me daily that our future is fragile but all hope is not lost.
