Shape of Nature
DBC International Art Space, Beijing / China
2022
On my walks, I pick up things. Outdoors, for instance, I pick up twigs, indoors, for example in frame shops, I pick up wood-frame cutoffs. I make jewellery from those frame cutoffs, essentially discards, giving them another life.
In response to the open call 'Shape of Nature' I united the source of the frame, wood, symbolized by twigs, with its twice-produced outcome, first as frames, then as jewellery. I also wanted to celebrate the beauty of both kinds of found objects, one from nature, breathtakingly beautiful and hard to imitate,
the other an artifice of human use of nature through imagination.
